TURBOS – PROPER INSTALLATION
GUIDELINES FOR PROPER TURBO INSTALLATION • Use only the correct gaskets and AVOID LIQUID GASKET MAKER OR SEALANTS near the oil outlet and inlet. • Use high-temperature anti-seize compound on all threaded connections.
DO NOT VOID YOUR WARRANTY! THESE GUIDELINES MUST BE FOLLOWED; ENGINE OIL, OIL FILTER, AND AIR FILTER MUST BE CHANGED PRIOR TO INSTALLATION.
• PRE-LUBRICATE the turbocharger with new oil through the oil supply port while carefully spinning the turbine shaft by hand. • Connect the oil feed line.
• Before connecting the oil drain line, observe turbocharger DRAIN OIL FLOW by cranking the engine for 15 seconds without starting the engine, to allow the oil pressure lines and oil filter to fill with oil and to avoid lack of lubrication. • Start the engine and allow it to idle for a minimum of three minutes and inspect the vehicle for air, oil, or fuel leaks. PLEASE REFER TO ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURER OWNER’S MANUAL FOR ADDITIONAL GUIDANCE. INSTALLATION CHECKLIST Please follow the checklist below to ensure proper expected life of your replacement turbo, and for proper warranty claim if needed: ✔ Pre-lubricate the OIL INLET with the enclosed syringe using new oil to prevent lack of lubrication. ✔ Ensure that the LUBRICATION is the proper weight and quality and that the oil pressure is at the appropriate level. ✔ Change the OIL AND OIL FILTER to prevent contaminated oil from entering the turbocharger. ✔ Check OIL LINES for cleanliness and clean if necessary. ✔ Review OIL DISCHARGE to ensure that there are no kinks or sink drains. ✔ Check CRANKCASE VENTILATION to prevent damage to seals. ✔ Check to see if the AIR FILTER is clean and replace if not. ✔ Inspect EXHAUST to ensure that it is free of foreign objects and duct work is clean to prevent foreign object damage. ✔ Check that exhaust AFTER TREATMENT SYSTEM has been properly cleaned (if you have turbo issues, it has likely dumped oil into the DOC/DPF filter system. It will need to be cleaned not only for the turbo but for the longevity of the filters). ✔ The INTERCOOLER , which is primary to the turbocharger working properly, will need to be cleaned to remove contaminated oil and particles. ✔ Check to make sure there are NO LEAKS in exhaust or compressor side piping. ✔ Check FUEL SETTINGS to ensure that fuel settings are not higher than original specification. ✔ Remove any PERFORMANCE CHIPS / PROGRAMMERS. This turbocharger is designed for OEM application only.
