CHARGE AIR COOLERS

WHY CHARGE AIR COOLERS?

Charge air coolers are used to cool engine air after it passes through a turbocharger and before it enters the engine. This returns the air to a lower temperature for optimum power in the combustion process. CACs are most often misdiagnosed, undiagnosed and neglected. Often injectors and turbos are replaced when the CAC is the real problem. A leaking charge air cooler impacts the entire engine and can cause:

• Turbocharger failure • Premature injector piston, ring and valve failure • Increased particulate levels in emissions

• Exhaust manifold failure • Increased fuel consumption • Premature DPF failure
